It can be tempting to just dive into a website rebuild or redesign project, but it might not be the solution you are looking for.

We often get approached to provide a proposal for a website rebuild or redesign project, but can sometimes find that the current site is fine – it just needs a little TLC.

If your website has been around for a while, there’s a good chance it’s ranking, even if it’s not converting.

The whole point of having a website is to convert visitors into paying customers.

If your website is established, but not performing as well as you hoped, throwing it away to start over can be costly in terms of budget and expensive in terms of ranking keywords if you don’t do it properly.

A website review can be of benefit if you:

  • Get a lot of traffic to your site, but don’t see many new business enquiries or sales
  • Think that there may be something not quite right with the site, but don’t know what
  • Are concerned that it’s slow to load
  • Have added heaps of content over time, but have not considered site structure
  • Have old or out-of-date themes and plugins

A full website review will highlight issues on your site and provide suggestions for how to improve them.

So what is a website review?

As you will probably know, there are 100s of tools out there that can provide you with ‘free’ reports about your website.

These include some great tools that we use such as SEM Rush (paid), Google Page Speed Insights (free), GT Metrix (free/paid) and Pingdom (free/paid).

Whilst these tools are great at highlighting technical (and in some cases, content) issues with your site, they are automated.

Your site is visited by the tool and an objective score is often given to the site.

What you need on top of this is a review by an actual person.

Our website reviews involve our senior digital team personally reviewing your site in regard to:

  • Design (web design and branding)
  • User experience
  • Site speed
  • Conversion
  • Build

We also use the automated tools listed above to check out your site.

On top of this, we’ll ask for access to:

  • Google Analytics
  • Search Console (if you have it)
  • Adwords accounts (if you use them)

Toast Search Results

The table above shows a few of the #1 rankings for, our main business website.

These rankings have been achieved by constantly improving the quality of our site in terms of content, internal linking, backlinks and SEO.

And this all started with a full website review before we embarked on making any changes to the site.

What does it cost?

The cost of a review is based on the size of your site, your business and several other factors, but they start at £240 ex VAT and go from there.

What you’ll get is a full report (written by a human, not AI) highlighting work that should be done on your site.

This will cover off everything that could improve (or be hindering) your website and suggestions for how best to get everything improved and working hard.
